My 4th July Fireworks Festival - Boston

Boston Firework 2008Few days ago I went to Boston to attend the fireworks festival. It was 4th of July — US Independence Day. Sounds lame, but that was the first time for me to see the real fireworks. They were spectacular indeed. Fire dancers swinging under the black sky, jumping, overlaping in many colors toward any directions.

Where I was… The event held at Charles River - Boston. If my 6th sense serves me well, I’ll say there were about… 42,579 people around the river. How the hell I came up with that number? I have no idea, just random.

I was not come alone. I had invited by the group (anime-lover) through Facebook, and they were hit the spot since 10 in the morning to claimed a good ground for us to camp on; while the main event started at 10.30pm. That was a frikin 12+ hours wait time.

This event hosted by one of Anime Boston member, hmm… by two actually. Zero-sama and Ethan Fleming. Thank’s for both of them who sacrifised their sweat, battery, energy, sponsored by the super stinks public restroom-box (i have no idea what these boxes called?) and greater possibility of skin cancer.

Along with my noob experience, it was also the 3rd time I come to Boston. More and less, I managed myself to find the right way to MBTA / Subway Train, recognizing the Inbound and Outbound way, buying the Charlie Ticket properly, better skill in locating smoking area and the restroom.

I arrived at 7pm by Bus, and I thought the event will started at 8pm (as it’s written on the Facebook) — ended up started at 10.30pm, while the last bus from Boston to NH will departed at 12.40am (midnight). The distance from the location to the Bus Terminal is probably about an hour (walk + subway). Not to say I was dealing with thousands of people who walked like a snail, which stretched my time as good as twice.

I met and got to know 5 new people there. Zero-sama, Camui, Ethan, Jessica, Lindsay, and I also met with my roommate in last March, Anime Boston 08, Michael. They were nice people; however, I didn’t expect it will be so crowded. I completely forgot, dark + crowded = fatality, for me. It’s been a while, and everytime I had to deal with that circumstance, I always feel like to get drugged.

Ended up in my own dizy fuzy world in my head, desperately waiting for the fireworks to hit the sky, and go home… >.>

But the fireworks were awesome. There were like 3-5 boats launched those rockets from the middle of the river. We also stood near the river edge, so there were no trees on our sight-way.

It reminds me, in Indonesia, in the golden day like 4th July, our celebration with fireworks is not as exclusive as what I saw that night.

We can’t afford those kind of fireworks… therefore, we locate all the funs AUDIBLY. Hell with the pleasant for your eyes, blow your ears that’s all matter!

We used all things necessary to create the loudest explosive fireworks. We’ll use grenade if it’s possible. Now you know why people around the world called our country as a part of terrorist. That’s only stereotyping. We don’t kill people… we blow their ears (Muahahaha, it’s practically a joke dammit).

After I stunned for few minutes, I remember I have to go back to the Bus Station a.s.a.p before the crazy load bunch of craps people will rage their stampede upon me to the station once the firework party is over.

However, I was kind of bit late — still I have to dealt with these people in Subway Station.

Oh My Crowd..........

I reached my sweet bed right at 2.45 am in Saturday. All my legs and back were sore, but it won’t stops me from visiting Boston next time. Just wait until I buy a GPS.
