Durian: The King of Fruit?

“It looks like shit,
feels like shit,
smells like shit,
tastes like shit…,” said my friend on MSN.
Don’t say you love Asian food, until you can eat this golden fruit, lol.
You can find durian in southeast of Asia. The reason it’s called as The King of Fruit, because its size, the appearance, and the ultimate odor. It’s like you can kill someone fast by throwing it to his/her head, or slowly by the aroma.
I love durian, that’s for sure. It’s a seasonal fruit. I forgot what month is it, probably around March to July, depends by the season and climate. The world knows that Asia is a part of the world, where the people almost eat everything. Every meat, vegetable, fruit, taste, everything; starts from dog, cat, snake, rabbit, chili, jengkol (?), pete (?) (I have no idea what was that in English), and yet durian.
Richard Sterling said, “Its odor is best described as pig-shit, turpentine and onions, garnished with a gym sock. It can be smelled from yards away” (Wikipedia).
That was really such a descriptive word, while I’m still enjoying this fruit and keep thinking why there are people who hate this fruit. But now, by knowing this fact, it’s really made my day xD. It makes me laughing to know how many people would bending over their knees when they have to face this fruit, and how they will barb if they’re seeing someone eat it (*sarcastic mode ON*).
Some countries in Asia are banning Durian from some public places, since not everybody can resist the odor, and can’t even think to taste it.

Talking about my country again, there’s no way you can avoid the smell of durian when it comes to its season. You will find a lot of merchants on the side road of the street everywhere, selling durian. Also in the supermarket, cafeteria, and inside the public bus or train…
It’s been like 4-5 years I haven’t eat this fruit. In USA, I’m not sure when and where I’m going to be able to find it.
So.. Do you think you can eat durian now?

mmm tastes good, really. It’s about Rp5000-15000 here
berbau seperti neraka tapi rasanya seperti surga
Actually, when its frozen the smell isn’t that bad. This is coming from a guy who hates it. I think my mom tried one a while ago but said it doesn’t taste good cuz it was frozen and shipped so even if you find one in some supermarket in the US, its probably not the same as if you ate it in asian.
For a moment, I thought you’re going to say,
“The smell isn’t that bad. It’s coming from a guy who ATE it.”
Lol!
Anyhow, durian itself has a various kinds, and I have no idea what are those. Maybe I’ll go look some of it later on in Asian Store; this shitty fruit.
If your forced to taste it, juice it and add cold milk, shake it well.. this saves lives, but keep the fact that you might die by the smell before preparing it.
Oh I love durians and the smell doesn’t stink. (at least to me)
There are a variety of durians, for example D24 etc.

I remember my friend told me there was a Fear Factor challenge that oblige the contestants to EAT DURIAN
