Do You Hold The Door For The Next Person?

Oh My God!!
I forgot where I read it, but in Indonesia, someone did took a survey, and it said that just 9 out of 100 people there who will hold the door for the next person behind them. Do you?

Right here, it’s already a part from the habit. Everywhere, when you walk behind the person who’s opening the door, he/she will hold it for you until you catch the door. For some people, they will do even if you’re still about 10 feet away from them.

“Thank you” and “You’re welcome” always take a place in within. It took a while for me to getting used to it. When I came here earlier, for few times I almost slammed the door to other’s faces, and when someone hold it for me, I was just passed through the door, and didn’t catch it lol. People stared at me like: “What planet did you come from?”

It happens everywhere, on the mall, school, workplace, even on the bathroom entrance. Be honest I’m impressed with it >D. It shows that you’re paying attention to your surrounding, especially human.

I never found it happens in my country. It’s almost completely as in the opposite way. Unless the line is crowded, mostly you will have to wait until the door is closed, then you can open it; or if you have enough guts to catch the “wild” door, is up to you, but don’t even bother to think that he/she will hold it for you.

I really can’t imagine what will happen to American tourists, when they came to Indonesia for the first time. Maybe the first thing they will said when they come back here is:

My nose was broken by the airport’s door entrance when I arrived;
but the picnic was fun =^-^=”

(Hold the door for the person next to you, people! >O).

that’s strange?? coz I went to east-asia a few times (but not Indonesia) and they were like the most polite people you could see!! “breathtaking manners” XD .. we have alot of Indonesians here, we even have one living in our house now, they’re cool =)

here where I live (KSA) everybody opens the door for you and helps you without askking for help, and surely walk the grandma through the street, it’s part of our culture,, for me I open the door for the one behind me even if he/she was 20 feet away, the only case if it was someone I hate.. it’s ok I wait for him (I can’t add “/her” here) but if he comes near I slam the door on him ^_^v

    LOL, you little evil.

For Indonesians who live here, of course they should adapted with the society for most of things. Otherwise, they will be in a really uncomfortable issue.

For east-asia, I’m not sure where since I never traveled around, so I don’t know much about that xD

Btw, once I slamed the door right on the next person’s face. It was like 15 years ago.

When I was getting out from a car (on passanger seat), I didn’t know that my niece also went through my door. I just slamed it and hit her cheek x.X (No bleeding issue).

Please remember, you did almost break my nose several times (and I believe you didn’t even realize it), and honestly I was thinking “Man, this guy is unbelievable..”.
I guess I’m included in the “9″ part out of 100.
And I did remember when I hold a door for you, you simply didn’t catch the door but pass through as if I’m a door keeper. Once again, I’m amazed. HUAHAHAHAHAHAHA. Well, know you mention it :D

LOL, no comment on -Q-’s post.. Stovila didn’t I say Indonesians are cool XD

for your niece, I was like “not the cheek x_x”, but thank God she wasn’t harmed by your coolness =)

I hold the door if the person is right behind or close by. I find it weird if they are like 20 feet away and i hold the door, its almost over curtious. They have to rush so i’m not standing there like an idiot (this happens too much to me -_-, i’m a dufus)

The comparison i would make is when people stop at the all way stop sign 2 seconds before you stop but WON’T move until you do.

And the charging the held door so it doesn’t touch you is hilarious, i love doing it
